The World Sports Alliance at the Vth Barcelona International Congress on Physical Education
The World Sports Alliance was invited to take part to the Vth Barcelona International Congress on Physical Education on February 4-5-6 2010 and to speak at a round table offering perspectives on the quality of physical education in a global context.
Dr Gilles Klein, Secretary General of the World Sports Alliance, introduced the Intergovernmental Organization as one of the possible answers to the paradox which arises with the integration of physical activities into the public policy: as the needs of youth increases and the availability to the public for physical activity decreases.
Facing the current reality that the States themselves, especially the southern States, cannot face the financial burden of youth and sports policies, the Public-Private Partnerships proposed by WSA constitute solutions for the future, and provide hope for the youth, in the potential they offer for the implementation of sports infrastructures and the provision of and access to quality physical activities for young people.
